On the afternoon of September 26, the 2024 Autumn Semester Teachers’ Professional Construction Joint Conference of Jiangsu University convened in Room 206 of the Students Skill Training Center in the Main Building. A. The meeting was attended by Jie Liu, Deputy Director of the Academic Affairs Office; Guangqing Bu, Secretary of the School of Teacher Education; Jiajia Wang, dean of the School of Teacher Education; Cui Kang, Vice Dean of the School of Teacher Education; Teaching Deans of other majors; Professional Leaders; Department Heads; Key Teachers; and staff from the Education Center and the Students’ Skills Training Center. Jiajia Wang chaired the meeting.
Cui Kang encapsulated the activities of the first half of 2024, addressing the development of the training program for education majors, the execution of educational internships, the administration of teacher competency assessments, the rigorous training of fundamental teaching skills for education students, and the data entry for the education student training information system. The work plan for the latter part of the year was presented, emphasizing the effective organization of the 13th Jiangsu Province Students’ Basic Teaching Skills Competition and the 6th Jiangsu Province Colleges’ Teachers’ Intelligent Teaching Competition.
During the professional certification communication session, Jiajun Li, Vice Dean of the School of Foreign Languages, presented the preparation status and current issues about the English major certification. Guangyao Zhu, head of the School of Art, reported on advancing the Fine Arts major certification. Jie Liu offered focused assistance on challenging matters in standard major certification. The certification colleges are anticipated to establish a responsibility framework for the “top leaders” of the party and government, effectively coordinate the college’s certification efforts, judiciously schedule work phases, and systematically organize all certification activities. The Education Center should facilitate communication between standard majors and diverse functional departments while offering intellectual support and service assurance for the certification process.
During the discourse on the implementation plan for “establishing teacher ethics and enhancing teaching competencies,” the participants deliberated on the discussion drafts of four papers: Jiangsu University’s Revitalization Action Plan for Normal Education (2024 - 2028), Jiangsu University’s Education Project Plan for ‘Teacher Ethics Cultivation’ of Normal Students, Jiangsu University’s Implementation Plan for Normal Students’ Educational Practice Work, and Implementation Plan for Practical Skill Training in the Strengthening Foundation Project of Normal Majors.
Guangqing Bu delivered a concluding address. He anticipated that the eight standard majors would collaborate and endeavour to achieve the second-level certification collectively. He also aspired to collaborate to enhance the development of conventional disciplines at our university.
The assembly of this joint conference on establishing standard majors offers comprehensive support for accreditation. It significantly advances the progress of normal education at our university.
