On the afternoon of October 10, the School of Teacher Education at Jiangsu University conducted the "Excellent Lesson" Teaching Contest for normal university students at the Normal University Student Skills Training Center, located on the second floor of Main Building A, in 2024. University students from the seven teacher education disciplines of the 2021 cohort actively engaged in this competition, with 20 students suggested by various institutions to participate.
The competition comprised three components: handwriting with chalk and ink, oral expression, and simulated instruction with course material development. The participating students prepared rigorously, crafted painstakingly structured teaching segments, and effectively employed numerous information technology tools for training. They showcased the competence of Jiangsu University’s typical students in areas including course material presentation, instructional manner, and language proficiency. The simulated teaching part drew many typical students for on-site observation. Expert judges rendered astute and unbiased evaluations for each participant, finally bestowing 7 first prizes and 13 second prizes.
“Promoting learning through competitions, promoting teaching through competitions” - the teaching contest is a potent supplement to classroom theoretical training. This constitutes a comprehensive evaluation of the professional learning accomplishments of typical university students and serves as an effective means to assist them in improving their fundamental teaching abilities and professional attributes. This tournament exemplifies our university's strong commitment to developing conventional students. It is crucial for fostering the ethos of educators and advancing the superior growth of teacher education.
