The 2023 Academic Innovation Forum of “Theory and Practice of High-quality Development of Basic Education” for Jiangsu Graduates was Successfully Held at Jiangsu University

On September 23th, 2023, the Academic Innovation Forum of “Theory and Practice of High-quality Development of Basic Education” for Jiangsu Graduates was successfully held at Jiangsu University. The forum was hosted by the Jiangsu Education Steering Committee of graduate students of education and undertaken by Jiangsu University. More than 120 graduate students from Nanjing University, Nanjing Normal University, Yangzhou University, Jiangsu University, and other universities participated in the forum.

During the commencement event, Professor Yingfeng Cai, Vice-President of Jiangsu University, extended heartfelt wishes and a cordial welcome to the esteemed experts, faculty members, and graduate students in attendance at the forum on behalf of Jiangsu University. President Cai provided a concise overview of Jiangsu University and the developmental trajectory of its School of Teacher Education. This forum aimed to gather intellectual insights that could contribute to the advancement of high-quality basic education and enhance the academic proficiency of graduate students. Professor Xuejun Chen, head of the secretariat of the Jiangsu Education Steering Committee for graduate students of education, congratulated the forum's successful organization. Professor Chen hoped this forum would further explore the essence and trajectory of high-quality development in basic education. Additionally, it was expected to foster increased academic exchange among graduate students of education in Jiangsu.

Following the commencement of the opening ceremony, the forum proceeded to the keynote speakers’ session. Four experts, namely Professor Gang Wu, Deputy Dean of the Institute for Advanced Studies in Education at East China Normal University; Professor Xinping Zhang, Director of the Institute of Educational Leadership and Management at Nanjing Normal University; Professor Hongjian Pan, Director of the Institute of Basic Education at Yangzhou University; and Professor Shouwei Lv from the School of Teacher Education at Jiangsu University, delivered keynote speeches respectively.

In the afternoon, the sub-forum was divided into four special sessions, with the themes of “Theoretical exploration and system construction of high-quality development of basic education,” “high-quality development of basic education and curriculum reform,” “high-quality development of basic education and teaching reform,” and “high-quality development of basic education and evaluation reform.” Thirty-four graduate student representatives made presentations and exchanges in the sub-forum. Following the meticulous process of paper collection, expert evaluation, and subsequent assessment by the Forum's organizing committee, 12 papers were chosen as recipients of the first-prize distinction, while 22 papers were awarded the second-prize distinction.

During the concluding event, Jiajia Wang, the dean of the School of Teacher Education at Jiangsu University, provided a comprehensive overview of the conference. Additionally, Professor Xuejun Chen, who serves as the chairman of the secretariat of the Jiangsu Education Steering Committee for graduate students of education, delivered a speech and officially declared the event’s conclusion.
