Professor Hiroyuki Yamada of Hiroshima University presented a report entitled“The Decline of Teachers’Ability as an Illusion”

On the afternoon of May 30,2019, Professor Hiroyuki Yamada of Hiroshima University of Japan made an academic report entitled "The Decline of Teachers' Ability as an Illusion"  in the 1817 lecture hall of Sanjiang Building. The report was hosted by Vice Dean Wang Jiajia. Gao Huizhu acted as the translator. Our faculties, graduate students and undergraduates attended the report.

Professor Yamada first introduced the lecture by a question, "Does everyone think that teachers are very attractive professions?" On the basis of everyone's answer to the "charm of glamour", Professor Yamada introduced the current situation of teachers in Japan, and pointed out that teachers are not considered to be very attractive professions in many cases.

Through the issue of the verification of the low qualifications of teachers, he summarized the following suggestions. First, to solve this problem, it is necessary to improve the working environment of teachers. Second, rebuild trust in teachers. Third, improve the professionalism and self-discipline of the industry. Only in this way can we increase the charm of the profession of teachers.

In the questioning session after the lecture, Professor Yamada and the teachers and students present at the lecture had fully exchanged and discussed issues such as the work and survival of Japanese teachers and the Japanese teacher training system.

Professor Yamada is a professor and Ph.D. tutor of the Faculty of Education, Graduate School of Education, Hiroshima University, Japan. He is currently a member of the Japan Society of Educational Society, the Japan Society of Education, the director of the China Four Kingdoms Education Society, and the president of the Children's Social Society.
