Sheng Wang Presented a Scholarly Discourse on “Text Interpretation of the Introduction to Kant’s Pedagogy Lecture”

Publishing Date: 2023-06-03 Number of visitors:

At 7 pm on June 1st, 2023, Sheng Wang, a teacher from the School of Teacher Education of Jiangsu University, presented a topic titled “Text Interpretation of the Introduction to Kant’s Pedagogy Lecture”  to our esteemed faculty and student body. Professor Shouwei Lv hosts this lecture.

Mr. Wang interprets the text from two aspects: the core concepts of Kant’s philosophy and the core concepts in the Introduction to Kant’s Pedagogy Lecture. By analyzing Kant’s three major questions (what can I know, what should I do, and what can I hope), Mr. Wang first reveals that the core problem of Kant’s philosophy is the question of “what is man?” At the same time, Mr. Wang pointed out the subversive significance of Kant’s philosophy in epistemology through the explanation of Kant’s “transcendental concept theory.” Finally, Mr. Wang summed up and reflected on Kant’s educational thought, revealing the inspiration and depth of Kant’s educational thought.

Following the lecture, Mr. Wang and Professor Lv engaged in a comprehensive discussion with the students regarding Kant's philosophy and educational ideas. Ultimately, Professor Lv provided a comprehensive overview of the lecture material and conveyed his appreciation to Mr. Wang for delivering an exceptional presentation. He further encouraged students to engage in extensive reading and critical thinking during their future research endeavours, emphasizing the importance of advancing scholarly investigations.
