The second Joint Conference on the establishment of the Normal major at Jiangsu University took place in the autumn semester of 2024

On the afternoon of November 11, the second joint conference about establishing the Normal major at Jiangsu University for the autumn semester of 2024 was convened in room 206 of the Skills Training Centre for Teacher Trainees in the Main A Building. The meeting presided over by Cui Kang, included Jie Liu, deputy director of the Academic Affairs Office; Guangqing Bu, secretary of the Party Committee of the College of Teacher Education; Cui Kang, Vice Dean; Deans of teacher education majors; Heads of majors; Deans of departments; key educators; and staff members of the School of Teacher Education.

Ming Zhao, secretary of the Party Committee of the College of Fine Arts, reported on the advancement of the Fine Arts (Normal) major in preparing professional accreditation materials, focusing on talent cultivation programs, and enhancing expert feedback. He proposed recommendations for upgrading the hardware environment for practical training of teacher trainees on campus, collaboratively organizing teacher training recruitment activities, and advancing the execution of the “Action Plan for Revitalisation of Teacher Training Education.” Cencen Lai, the deputy director of the School of Foreign Languages, provided an update on the preparations for accreditation of the English (Normal) program.

Hua Yin, deputy director of the Centre for Teacher Education office, provided a comprehensive overview of the educational internship arrangements for the 2024-2025 2nd semester, covering the internship schedule, selection of internship schools, and enhancement of educational internship agreements.

Jiyong Zhang, Head of the Strategic Planning Section of the Academic Construction and Planning Development Division, outlined the 2024 Higher Education Quality Monitoring data reporting criteria and engaged in a question-and-answer session regarding related matters.

The meeting addressed forming the “Jiangsu University Teacher Development Research Alliance” and enhancing initiatives to develop “Educator-type” instructors.

Guangqing Bu delivered a concluding address, advocating for professional accreditation to elevate its standards and adequately prepare for Level 3 accreditation in advance. The School of Teacher Education at the university will enhance collaboration with the colleges housing the eight teacher education programs, effectively plan to revitalise these programs and advance teacher education policies and systems.
