The finals of the 2024 National Tin Ka Ping Cup teaching skills competition for full-time professional master’s degrees in subject teaching (English) and preschool education were held from November 8th to 10th at Jiangsu Normal University and Shaanxi Normal University, respectively.
A total of 252 competitors from 107 domestic colleges and universities specializing in topic teaching (English) and 208 competitors from 87 domestic colleges and universities specializing in pre-school education were shortlisted for the finals in this competition. Since the competition’s inception, the School of Teacher Education at Jiangsu University has prioritized it and motivated professional master’s degree students to engage in and prepare for the event. The college has systematically assembled a team of educators to deliver thorough individualized assistance to the participating students, ensuring comprehensive support for their preparation.
The final assessment comprised three components: on-site question formulation, simulated instruction, and live defense, executed through on-site question generation, time-constrained lesson preparation, and practical teaching demonstrations. The one-and-a-half-hour preparation phase assessed the competitors’ fundamental teaching abilities, topic knowledge, psychological attributes, and general time management skills. Menghui Li, a graduate student specializing in subject teaching (English) at our college, ultimately secured the National Second Prize, while Teacher Weiren Cai received the Excellent Instructor Award. Graduate students Ge Guo, Xiaorong Feng, and Mingzhe Yin, specializing in preschool education, attained the National Third Prize.
This competition showcased the fundamental teaching competencies, exceptional pedagogical abilities, and exemplary topic knowledge of the Master of Education candidates at our college. The School of Teacher Education at Jiangsu University will utilize this opportunity further to advance the innovation and reform of classroom instruction, enhance the practical teaching competencies of professional master’s degree candidates, and consistently elevate the professional proficiency of students.
