Our Faculties and graduate students made presentations at the 5th National Forum on Empirical Education Research held in East China Normal University

     From October 26th to 27th, 2019, the Fifth National Forum on Empirical Research in Education was held in East China Normal University. Professor Huang Jinyan, Professor Chen Quan, Associate Professor Kang Cui, and Xu You (graduate student), participated in the academic seminar. Our graduate student Xu You submitted an academic paper to the conference and made a topic entitled "Eastern Rural Areas" Supply and Enlightenment of Public Resources for Preschool Education ".
     This forum is to implement the "East China Normal University Declaration of Action" and vigorously improve the quality of education research and promote the transformation of education research paradigm. It is organized by the East China Normal University, Beijing Normal University, the Education Science Planning Leading Group Office, and the Guangming Daily Educational Research Center. This Fifth Academic Conference of the National Forum on Empirical Education Research, co-sponsored by the Research Center, was co-hosted by 16 domestic high-level pedagogical teaching and research units, attracting more than 1,800 attendees at home and abroad, and jointly discussing educational empirical Research. The seminar focused on "Theoretical reflection and practical review of qualitative research", "Educational research based on video analysis", "Educational research based on survey methods", "Educational research based on hybrid methods", "Educational research based on social network analysis" "," Educational Discourse Innovation Based on Empirical Research "," Theoretical Exploration of Empirical Research in Education "," Experimental Research in Education "," Research on Action in Education "," Theoretical Reflection and Practical Review of Quantitative Research "," Education Field Research, Educational Research Based on Questionnaire Design, Educational Case Studies, Educational Research Based on Ethnographic Methods, Educational Research Based on Big Data Analysis, and Educational Research Based on Text Analysis Wait for 16 topics to unfold.
     During the meeting, our faculties communicated with Professor Robert E. Slavin, the Director of the Center for Educational Research and Reform, School of Education, Johns Hopkins University, and Professor Alan Cheung, the Director of the University and Primary and Middle School Cooperative Research Center, Professor Nicholas Sun-Keung Pang, former Director of the Department of Educational Administration and Policy, The Chinese University of Hong Kong, We had in-depth discussions and exchanged views and opinions on hot issues, which promoted the new direction of the educational evaluation and research methods of our school, effectively expanding the influence of our school's education disciplines.

On the construction of normal education with Chinese characteristics in the view of educational confidence: based upon reflections on 120 years’ development of normal education

Lack of confidence and self-focus has become an important factor hampering the construction of normal education with Chinese characteristics, which has been considered to be a chronic disease of normal education in China. To construct normal education with Chinese characteristics, we should take such initiatives as follows: comprehending normal education with Chinese characteristics scientifically, grasping the logic of interaction between normal education and basic education systematically, analyzing the history and current situation of normal education of China deeply, and understanding the developing trend of normal education at home and abroad comprehensively. Based on these, to carry out the requirement of educational self-confidence in an all-round way and highlight self-care, measures should be taken from the construction of the development idea system, theory system, practice paradigm, etc.
