On the morning of September 22, Prof. Zhongkui Rong, Vice Dean of the School of Educational Sciences of Hunan Normal University, gave an academic lecture entitled “The Governing Mechanism of Basic Education Reform” at the Sanjiang Building. Prof. Shouwei Lv hosted the session.

Professor Yung explained the “Governing Mechanism of Basic Education Reform” from two distinct perspectives. Prof. Yung analyzed the rationale behind the dominance of basic education reform, considering the fundamental principles and the approach to implementing such change. Professor Yung has identified politics, economy, culture, and education as the primary factors influencing basic education reform. In his analysis, he examined the functioning mechanisms of these four factors, considering their strengths, limitations, and interactions. Furthermore, Professor Yung also examined the reform of China’s basic education curriculum from three distinct perspectives: fundamental philosophy, primary initiatives, and implementation and promotion. Additionally, he analyzed the spiritual significance of the basic education reform, drawing upon philosophical concepts such as constancy and change and static and dynamic categories.
After the lecture, Professor Yung engaged in a comprehensive exchange and dialogue with students and teachers. He diligently and attentively addressed the students' inquiries while encouraging education researchers. Professor Yung emphasized the importance of comprehending the scope of education and demonstrating respect toward educated individuals in the context of basic education reform. Furthermore, he underscored the significance of acknowledging the pivotal role played by educators in this process.
