Publishing Date: 2023-04-28 Number of visitors:

On the afternoon of April 25th, 2023, Professor Liang Cheng from the Department of Education of East China Normal University visited the Sanjiang Education Lecture Hall and gave a lecture titled Boundary Ethics of Teacher-Student Relations to the esteemed faculty and student body. Professor Shouwei Lv hosted this session.

At the beginning of the lecture, Professor Liang Cheng elaborated in detail on the boundary ethics of teacher-student relations from four aspects: teachers in the boundary,” teachers’ professional relationships and boundary ethics, boundary ethics in teacher-student interaction, and how teachers maintain ethical balance on the boundary. Regarding the limits and degrees of ethical boundaries in teacher-student relationships in teaching, Professor Cheng, based on his own research and teaching practice cases, points out that intimate relationships between teachers and students should not exceed professional boundaries. Teachers must comprehensively consider situational factors and make prudent ethical decisions and actions to achieve or maintain ethical balance at the boundaries. Lastly, Professor Liang Cheng conversed and interacted with teachers and students, carefully and slowly responding to their inquiries.

This academic lecture helped teachers and students clarify the “teacher-student relationship within professional boundaries,” which broadened their academic horizons and facilitated their scientific treatment and handling of teacher-student relationships in teaching practice.
